About us

Musica Enchiriadis derives its name from the eponymous 9th-century musical treatise, taking part in the presentation of its first Italian edition in 2010 (Udine, Forum, 2009). The choir refined its expertise in medieval sacred monody under the guidance of the celebrated Gregorian chant scholar Nino Albarosa. Alongside its dedication to early monophonic and polyphonic music through festivals, concerts, and cultural events, the ensemble explores a wide-ranging repertoire—including 20th-century compositions—to promote local authors and showcase the rich musical heritage of the Romagna region.

Our Conductor

Pia Zanca, professor at the Maderna-Lettimi Conservatory of Cesena and Rimini, directs the Musica Enchiriadis choir with passion and dedication, advancing the research and performance of repertoires ranging from medieval monody to 20th-century music. In her vision, the choir is not a mere collection of voices, but a living entity that draws its strength and identity from the personality of each individual singer. This deep attention to the individual feeds the ensemble, guiding us toward continuous artistic and personal growth. Under her direction, we have had the pleasure of performing in numerous concerts and festivals, exploring the rich musical heritage of Romagna and beyond.

The Choir ensemble

Our ensemble is an ever-evolving workshop, open to new voices and fresh energy. A special thank you goes to all the choir members who, through their talent and dedication, have enriched our history and collaborated with us over the years.

A Connection Growing Through Music

Our story is built above all on connections. We have grown together, step by step, note by note. Some of us have been here from the very beginning, since 2010, while others have joined us along the way. On this journey, we have been fortunate to cross paths with many friends: some sang with us for years, while others were part of the choir for just a brief moment, yet each one shared our joy and left an indelible mark. We continue to grow, looking to the future with the same sense of wonder as those who listen to us and took those first steps alongside us.

A special thank you to everyone who has been an 'Enchi,' if only for a short time:
